“Sleeping in Space, Pt. 1″, a film by Katie Tilford, is an exploration of the ways in which the self is mirrored, reproduced, and fragmented. By using water as a medium, the artist’s body is captured on camera such that there is no absolute border between the self and the environment, and one can not be defined without the other. A wholly new subject is formed which is conflated with the space, yet not divorced from the original body.

“Sleeping in Space, Pt. 2”, a collaborative film by Marisa Colcord and Joey Luu, is an exploration into an amalgam of emotions. Through the act of simple, repetitive gestures and accompanying music, this piece touches upon the notions of fear, desperation, endurance, the tranquility within these floating bodies and their responses in a “womb” like environment.
